Raku Pottery

Influenced by the natural beauty of the wildlife in South Africa, Lorraine Marinkowitz, a producer of Raku beads, adapted her techiques to the production of animals and birds. Although the manufacturing process lends itself primarily to earth tones, Lorraine developed a technique to achieve bright geometric shapes characteristic of African art and design, thus forging a connection between the wildlife and its people.

Each piece of Raku pottery passes through the hands of at least eight different skilled crafters, many of whom etch or paint their initials on the bottom of each item, making it a truly unique 'one of a kind'. The pieces also differ in respect of the colours used, and the illustrations serve merely as examples. Please call or email for further information about the individual pieces we have in stock.
